Ganesha Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of Lord Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati/Gauri. This year, in Sri Chamundi Scout Group, the festival was celebrated for three days. SCSG also encouraged members to make eco-friendly ganesha idols, which were kept alongside the main idol, during the pooja.

As a Cub:
I joined Sri Chamundi Scout Group (SCSG) when I was 7 year old boy on 2nd July, 2005 (My Birthday), thanks to my sister. As a young boy I was only playing around with my friends without any knowledge of scouting and its impact on me. When I was introduced into Sixer system I gradually got to know about badges, pack leadership and scouting culture. My endorphin was high during camps and I started to participate in all activities during camps, rallies, jamborees and other events. I earned my Chaturtha Charan Badge, which is the second highest badge in cub section.

Refreshing!!! That’s the feeling I have of the beautiful rain trek in the Agumbe ghats. As always good to be in our great western ghats. My friends and I made a magnificent nine and started on a friday night of a regular weekend. We hired a TT to drive us close to our destination. As usual the route from Bengaluru was Nelmangala, Kunigal and Hassan. From Hassan, take route towards Belur, then to Chikmagalur, Aldur, Balehonnur and Sringeri. From Sringeri to Kigga.

Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. These heat-trapping pollutants—specifically carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, water vapour are known as greenhouse gases. Normally this radiation would escape into space, but these pollutants, which can last for years to centuries in the atmosphere, trap the heat and cause the planet to get hotter. This is called the greenhouse effect.
